ISRE 2019 Early Career Researcher Dissertation Award

This year, the ISRE Early Career Researchers Section is introducing a dissertation award to recognise excellence in early career emotion researchers. Awards play a crucial role in helping young outstanding researchers achieve recognition, increase chances for competitive funding and thus improve career opportunities outside their established networks. We are now calling for submissions for the dissertation award.


The recipient of this award will receive one-year ISRE membership, free registration for the ISRE2019 Conference, and partial airfare to the conference. Both the recipient and two other outstanding nominees will receive an accompanying certificate at the conference. The award recipient will be asked to present their doctoral research at the ISRE2019 conference and write a short summary for the Emotion Researcher newsletter.


Theses/dissertations must be relevant to the field of emotion, and must have been completed during the previous two years (2017 and 2018).


Submissions should include: a 1000-word abstract of the thesis (no identifying information) which summarises the theory, method, results, and implications; a cover letter with contact information (email and mail address) of the applicant and supervisor; a letter from the supervisor certifying the acceptance date of the thesis. Submissions will be judged by a panel of senior emotion researchers for their degree of innovation and implications for theory and research, scholarly excellence, and methodological appropriateness. Finalists will be asked to send their full thesis for evaluation.
